Humanities
Religious Education at The Orchard Centre is designed to provoke challenging questions about the ultimate meaning and purpose of life, beliefs about God, the self and the nature of reality, issues of right and wrong and what it means to be human.
It offers opportunities for personal reflection and spiritual development. It enhances students’ awareness and understanding of religions and beliefs, teachings, practices and forms of expression, as well as of the influence of religion on individuals, families, communities and cultures.
RE has an important role in preparing young people
for adult life, employment and lifelong learning.
It enables students to develop respect for
and sensitivity to others, in particular those
whose faiths and beliefs are different from their own.
It promotes discernment and enables students to combat prejudice.
At KS4, students follow the AQA GCSE in Religious Studies (Specification A), studying units on:

Uniform

Students are expected to wear a full uniform when
attending the Centre. This can be The Orchard Centre’s

The Orchard Centre is proud to be in partnership with Magic Breakfast, providing healthy breakfasts to our young people so that they are settled and ready to learn.
Magic Breakfast provides The Orchard Centre with nutritious breakfast food to ensure children start their school day in the best possible way. Breakfast gives children the energy needed for the busy school morning, enabling them to focus on their learning.
Here at The Orchard Centre, we are committed to ensuring no child is too hungry to learn.
The Orchard Centre Magic Breakfast Offer is free to all young people and includes:

Breakfast Club
Warm bagels and toast are available to take to form time as the young people arrive to Centre.
Time: 8.50-9.10

Bagel Grab and Go
Bagels can be made to order if a young person arrives late or is in need of food at any point throughout the day.

Breaktime breakfast
Bagels/toast, cereals and fruit juice are available for all young people throughout break time. These are served in the dining hall or can be delivered to classrooms.
