Forest School

This is ultimately what we’re aiming for in Forest School, completely inclusive and learner directed activity.

Over the last couple of weeks Orchard Centre ‘O group’ students have been developing their own woodland cricket/rounders/baseball game. This week, entirely unprompted, they set it up, established the boundaries and made sure everyone got a turn batting and in the other positions they’ve created. W Corbett and I had the pleasure of watching and keeping score of a very competitive but conflict free game.

Working together to establish rules and develop the game has really helped build relationships and smooth frictions amongst a few of the students and there’s been a direct impact with how well they have worked together in paired and group activities.
