At the Orchard Centre, we offer the chance to our students to take part in professionally coached boxing sessions every Wednesday afternoon at Priory Park ABC. This term our students have been working towards achieving their England boxing bronze award. The award includes basic boxing fundamentals such as correct punching techniques, footwork, defending and fitness. Once students have passed their bronze award, they will have the opportunity to move on to their silver award. We feel that these boxing sessions are very rewarding for our students as it helps with their behaviour, concentration, focus which will only go on to benefit them in their academic achievements, it is also giving them the opportunity to learn new skills which they may not get outside of school! These sessions are offered to all our students no matter what their needs may be.

Humanities
Religious Education at The Orchard Centre is designed to provoke challenging questions about the ultimate meaning and purpose of life, beliefs about God, the self and the nature of reality, issues of right and wrong and what it means to be human.
It offers opportunities for personal reflection and spiritual development. It enhances students’ awareness and understanding of religions and beliefs, teachings, practices and forms of expression, as well as of the influence of religion on individuals, families, communities and cultures.
RE has an important role in preparing young people
for adult life, employment and lifelong learning.
It enables students to develop respect for
and sensitivity to others, in particular those
whose faiths and beliefs are different from their own.
It promotes discernment and enables students to combat prejudice.
